Randall L. Kinnard was voted the lawyer they would want to represent them in a medical malpractice case by Middle Tennessee lawyers, according to Business Nashville, December 1999, which quoted one lawyer as saying, It's pretty well recognized that he is the premier plaintiff's medical malpractice attorney in Nashville. He is certified as a Civil Trial Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and by the Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education & Specialization. He is also a Certified Medical Malpractice Specialist. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point with a Bachelor of Science degree. An Airborne Ranger, he served 18 months in combat in Vietnam with the 173rd Airborne Brigade and was awarded the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, Purple Heart, Combat Air Medical and Bronze Star for Valor. After his service in the military, he received his law degree from Memphis State University in 1976 where he served on the Law Review. He was admitted to the bar in Tennessee in 1976. Mr. Kinnard is a member of the Nashville and Tennessee Bar Associations; Tennessee Association for Justice (President, 2002-2003, member, Board of Directors); Lawyers Involved for Tennessee (Chairman, 1999-2001); and is also a member of the American Bar Association. He is a state delegate and a member of the American Association for Justice and is a Fellow of the Tennessee Bar Association. He also is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. Mr. Kinnard is the Campaign Chair for the Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands (2005). He is also a board member of Centerstone, which is a not-for-profit organization helping over 40,000 people and their families. Mr. Kinnard has also been elected to the Board of Directors of Friends of Warner Parks (2005-2006). He has written numerous legal articles and is a frequent speaker at legal seminars. He has received the highest ranking possible (AV rated) from Martindale-Hubbell. Mr. Kinnard has been selected by his peers to be included in the 2003-2004 edition, 2005-2006 edition and the 2006-2007 of The Best Lawyers in America. Randy frequently gives speeches and advice to physicians, nurses and hospitals on how to avoid committing medical negligence, how to protect patients and improve patient relations. In many of his lectures on these subjects, he has started his talk with the sentence, The problem with malpractice is malpractice. Randy was selected to be a lead participant in a group called The Alliance a group of physicians from across the state of Tennessee, including the president of the Tennessee Medical Association, more than a dozen physicians and four attorneys. Part of the purpose of this group is to better the relationships between physicians and attorneys. The group is headed up by the Honorable Judge Neil Thomas, Circuit Court Judge in Hamilton County, Chattanooga, Tennessee and the innovations of these ladies and gentlemen in resolving multiple challenges between the two professions have received national attention. Randy is Advocate Chair of the Patient Safety Committee of the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association. Randy also is in the process of founding The Children's Justice Center a non-profit, charitable organization which will provide free legal help, advice and court representation for abused and neglected children. Randy also serves on the Quality Council Committee of Alive Hospice. His practice areas include Medical Malpractice, Vehicular Accidents, Product Liability, Wrongful Death and Personal Injury.
